THE 5 EXPRESSIONS OF CHRIST (The Teacher)

The Five Expressions of Christ
Why the Ekklesia Still Needs the Fivefold Ministry

One of the great misunderstandings in the modern church is the belief that the fivefold ministries described in Ephesians 4:11 are simply leadership titles. They are much more than that:

Paul writes:

“And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and some teachers … for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry; for the edifying of the Body of Christ.”

The fivefold ministry is not about hierarchy or position. It is about the continued expression of the ministry of Jesus through His body on the earth.

Jesus carried the fullness of all five of these expressions. When He ascended, He released these ministry graces into the church so the Ekklesia could continue His mission in the world.

In other words, the fivefold ministry represents five dimensions of the ministry of Christ flowing through His people. When these expressions are functioning together, the church begins to reflect the fullness of Christ.

This month, we continue to look at each of the 5-fold ministries individually …

THE TEACHER

Teaching Truth ... Grounds The Saints in Scripture

Teachers establish believers in the truth of God’s Word. They bring clarity, understanding, and doctrinal stability to the church.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus was repeatedly called "Teacher". He opened the Scriptures, explained The Kingdom, and helped people understand the Nature of God.

Teaching ministry protects the church from confusion, shallow theology, and spiritual instability. It helps believers develop deep roots in Scripture so their faith can endure.

Where teaching grace is operating, the church grows in maturity, discernment, and biblical understanding.

Teachers help the church ask:

• What does Scripture actually say?
• Are we grounded in truth?
• Are believers growing in understanding and maturity?

Teaching truth ensures that the church is firmly rooted in the Word of God.

In next month’s entry, we will wrap-up this series of entries entitled ... The Five Expressions of Christ: Why the Ekklesia Still Needs the Fivefold Ministry ... by answering the question:

"WHY DOES 5-FOLD MINISTRY MATTER?"
